If you live in San José del Cabo and have ever had to drive farther down the Tourist Corridor just because you needed paint, a drill, a new light fixture — and somehow came home with 12 other things, we have some very good news.
The Home Depot officially opened its first San José del Cabo store on August 20, 2026.
And this isn’t just another store opening. The company invested $690 million pesos in the new location, making it the second Home Depot in the municipality of Los Cabos and the third in Baja California Sur. The opening also brings Home Depot to 144 stores across Mexico.
San José Finally Has Its Own Location
Until now, many Los Cabos residents relied on the existing Home Depot location on the Cabo San Lucas side of the Tourist Corridor.
The new San José del Cabo store means homeowners, contractors, property managers and anyone tackling a weekend project now have a much more convenient option on this side of town.
And this is especially good news for residents and homeowners on the East Cape. For communities north and east of San José, having a Home Depot here can make supply runs much easier for everything from maintenance and construction materials to landscaping, paint, tools and home-improvement projects — without having to continue farther toward Cabo San Lucas.
With the East Cape continuing to grow with new homes, resorts and residential development, the timing feels especially right.
The new store offers more than 50,000 products for construction, remodeling, maintenance, décor and home improvement, along with services for both individual customers and professional contractors.
Another Sign of How Fast Los Cabos Is Growing
This is the part we find especially interesting.
Home Depot specifically pointed to the area’s growth in tourism, housing and infrastructure as part of the reason for the expansion.
For anyone living here, that probably doesn’t come as a surprise.
New homes are being built. Resorts and residential communities continue to expand. Properties are constantly being renovated, furnished and maintained.
And businesses are clearly paying attention.
The new location created 95 direct jobs, adding to approximately 200 Home Depot positions already in Baja California Sur.
Two Home Depots in Los Cabos… Finally
So yes, Los Cabos now officially has two Home Depot locations:
Home Depot Los Cabos — on the Tourist Corridor toward Cabo San Lucas.
And now:
Home Depot San José del Cabo — the brand-new location that opened August 20.
For those of us on the San José side — and for many people coming in from the East Cape — this could save a lot of driving.
And possibly create a whole new problem:
Going in for one screwdriver and coming out with patio furniture, plants, paint, storage containers and a new barbecue.
We’ve all been there.
A Little Community Love, Too
Ahead of the opening, Home Depot associates also participated in a cleanup and conservation project at Playa El Tule.
The company says it has completed more than 138 volunteer projects in Baja California Sur since arriving in the state and has contributed more than $22 million pesos in products, materials and other support to local organizations.
We always like seeing a major company come into Los Cabos and invest not only in a new location, but in the community around it as well.
