Recently, survey and engineering teams have been seen working on the roads, particularly along the Transpeninsular Highway. This activity is part of several proposals presented by President Claudia Sheinbaum, aimed at bringing significant benefits to our beloved community.
The first project is the construction of an underpass at the Fonatur roundabout, located between the Chedraui Selecto and La Comer stores. Currently, this area experiences traffic congestion that can extend up to 40 minutes during peak hours, due to the roundabout’s four main entrances and two U-turns. The new underpass, expected to start construction in 2025, aims to improve traffic flow by providing a continuous double-lane flow in both directions. This will allow incoming traffic to San José del Cabo to move smoothly without needing to stop, significantly reducing travel times.
Another important project is the construction of a dam in La Paz, which will have its own water treatment plant and a storage capacity of 22 million cubic meters. This investment will benefit the residents of La Paz and help reduce the exploitation of groundwater, contributing to the region’s water sustainability.
Finally, a second water desalination plant is under construction. Although the project began in 2022, it was planned a decade ago, and with the support of federal entities, it is expected to be completed by 2025. This plant will help improve the availability of drinking water in the region, addressing the growing needs of the population.
These investments represent a significant step forward for the development of Baja California Sur, improving infrastructure and ensuring resources for the well-being of its residents.
