Cabo San Lucas emergency officials are urging residents to prepare early as Hurricane Polo remains a powerful storm offshore and forecasts continue to evolve.
The message from local firefighters is straightforward: do not wait until conditions deteriorate to make basic preparations. Residents should secure outdoor furniture and loose objects, check household supplies, charge phones and backup batteries, and keep important documents accessible.
Preparation before conditions change
Although current forecasts do not establish a direct Cabo landfall, Polo is a major hurricane and marine restrictions have already begun affecting Cabo San Lucas. Large storms can influence surf, wind and rain well away from the center.
Residents should rely on Protección Civil, Mexico’s Servicio Meteorológico Nacional, CONAGUA and official local emergency channels for changes in warnings or instructions.
Visitors should also check with hotels, airlines and tour operators, particularly for marine activities. The Port of Cabo San Lucas has announced preventive restrictions affecting small-vessel navigation.
