Travelers planning a fishing charter, yacht outing or other small-vessel activity from Cabo San Lucas should confirm plans directly with their operator today as maritime restrictions tied to Hurricane Polo affect local operations.
The Port of Cabo San Lucas announced a preventive closure to small-vessel navigation beginning at midnight Wednesday as authorities monitor the major hurricane in the eastern Pacific.
The closure is an operational safety measure. It does not mean a direct hurricane landfall in Cabo San Lucas is certain. Forecasts continue to evolve, and dangerous marine conditions can develop far from a storm’s center.
What travelers should do
Guests with fishing, sailing, yacht or water-tour reservations should contact their operator before heading to the marina. Reopening decisions are made by maritime authorities based on conditions and official guidance, so travelers should not assume a fixed reopening time.
Visitors should also avoid treating calm conditions on land as evidence that offshore conditions are safe. Swell, wind and currents can deteriorate before significant weather reaches the coastline.
