The 2024 World Wide Technology Championship wrapped up in dramatic fashion on the stunning Tiger Woods-designed course, El Cardonal at Diamante in Los Cabos, Mexico. Golf fans were treated to an unforgettable event as Austin Eckroat claimed victory with an electrifying final-round performance. This marks Eckroat’s second PGA TOUR win of the season, further solidifying his status as one of the rising stars in the world of golf.
A Thrilling Conclusion to a Stellar Tournament
The final day of the tournament was a nail-biter, with Eckroat delivering a remarkable round of 63 that featured an astonishing 11 birdies. His consistent play throughout the week (68, 67, 66, 63) brought him to a winning total of 24-under-par, narrowly defeating his closest competitors by one stroke.
Justin Lower made a thrilling eagle on the 18th hole to tie for second place alongside Carson Young, both finishing at 23-under-par. Young capped his round with a clutch birdie on the final hole, ensuring a shared spot for runner-up honors.
Eckroat’s victory not only secured him the $1,296,000 winner’s purse but also cemented his place in the FedExCup Top 50, positioning him as a strong contender for the season’s remaining milestones.
Austin Eckroat: A Special Bond with Los Cabos
Eckroat’s connection to Los Cabos goes deeper than this week’s victory. As a collegiate golfer at Oklahoma State, he also triumphed at the Cabo Collegiate, making this destination a particularly memorable one for the 25-year-old Oklahoma native.
“I guess I just love the area… This is one of my favorite places in the world, if not my favorite. And now to have two wins, I think that might solidify it as the new favorite for me,” Eckroat said during his victory speech.

The Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal course, a par-72 layout spanning 7,452 yards, offered the perfect setting for the tournament. Ranked 26th on Golfweek’s Best 2024 list for courses in Mexico and Central America, El Cardonal showcased its world-class design and challenging terrain.
