One of the most breathtaking luxury dining events we have experienced in a very long time is officially underway at @zadunreserve, and unfortunately for those reading this after May 22… you may have just missed one of the most unforgettable culinary collaborations to arrive in Los Cabos this season.
The Cabo Magazine was graciously invited to experience the exclusive Mandapa Takes Over Zadún event, and from the moment we arrived, it became clear this was not simply dinner, this was an immersive culinary journey. One designed to transport guests from the coastline of Baja California Sur to the rich flavors, aromas, and artistry of Bali, Indonesia.
Hosted oceanfront at Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in San José del Cabo, the atmosphere alone was enough to leave us speechless. Fire pits glowed against the cool evening breeze coming off the Sea of Cortez. Candlelight flickered across beautifully dressed tables. The sounds of the waves created the perfect soundtrack to an already magical evening. Every detail felt intentional, elegant, and deeply luxurious.
And then came the food.
Created by Chef @sunarya89 of @mandapareserve and @kubuatmandapa, the tasting menu was layered with depth, creativity, and authentic Balinese inspiration while still feeling perfectly at home in Los Cabos. Every course told a story. Every plate arrived like artwork.
Some of the evening’s highlights included the vibrant Roots Salad featuring jicama, beetroot, and turmeric; the rich and comforting Indonesian lobster bisque; the delicate Catch of the Day paired with wild herbs and foraged vegetables; and an absolutely unforgettable slow-roasted pork belly finished with pumpkin textures and green peppercorn sauce.
And the desserts? We honestly could continue talking about them for another five paragraphs. The Markisa dessert with banana and passion fruit was bright and tropical, while the Kopi dessert with mascarpone, cocoa, and coffee delivered the perfect rich finish to the evening.
At one point during dinner, we looked around the table, laughed, and realized something: if we tried to say every good thing we wanted to say about this experience, we would probably run out of space in this article.
The hospitality from the entire Zadún team was first-class from beginning to end. We were welcomed to a private table, cared for with incredible attention to detail, and made to feel genuinely appreciated throughout the evening. This level of service is exactly why Zadún continues to stand out as one of the premier luxury destinations not only in Los Cabos, but in all of Mexico.
And this is exactly what makes this experience so special. It is not just about luxury dining. It is about atmosphere. Emotion. Storytelling. Travel. Culture. Conversation. Connection.
