Artists, creators, cultural managers and residents are being invited to take part in a municipal conversation about the future of cultural services and spaces in Los Cabos.
The event, “¡Tu Voz en la Política Cultural!”, is being organized by the H. XV Ayuntamiento de Los Cabos through the Instituto de la Cultura y las Artes. The institute’s current notice says the meeting was rescheduled to Wednesday, September 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Galería de Arte Cerrito del Timbre in Cabo San Lucas.
What is being discussed?
The dialogue is centered on fiscal reform involving cultural services and spaces. Organizers are inviting the people who work within Cabo’s arts community to contribute ideas, concerns and proposals rather than limiting the discussion to government officials.
That matters in a destination where culture increasingly intersects with tourism, economic development and neighborhood identity. San José del Cabo’s galleries may be the region’s most internationally visible arts district, but Cabo San Lucas also has an active network of artists, workshops, public programs and cultural spaces.
A chance for artists to be heard
The meeting is intended as an open forum for independent artists, cultural managers, collectives and members of the public. For working artists, questions around taxes, access to spaces, municipal programming and the practical cost of producing cultural events can directly affect whether creative work is sustainable.
The Cabo Magazine will be watching for concrete proposals or policy changes that emerge from the discussion.
