San José del Cabo adds a different kind of festival to this week’s calendar as the 2nd Festival de las Aves de Los Cabos returns October 8–10.
The event is listed on the official Baja California Sur tourism calendar as an arts and cultural event in San José del Cabo, bringing attention to one of the region’s less-publicized attractions: its birdlife and natural habitat.
Another side of Los Cabos
Los Cabos is better known internationally for beaches, golf and sportfishing, but the region also sits within an important landscape for resident and migratory birds. The San José del Cabo Estuary is one of the municipality’s best-known natural areas and provides habitat within an otherwise rapidly developing destination.
A bird festival offers an opportunity to connect tourism with conservation and environmental education rather than treating nature only as a backdrop.
For visitors, it is also a reason to explore San José beyond the Gallery District and resort corridor. Birdwatching is best early in the day, when temperatures are lower and activity is often greater.
Dates: October 8–10, 2026
Location: San José del Cabo, Los Cabos.
Visitors should confirm the latest individual activity times and meeting points with festival organizers before attending.
