One of San José del Cabo’s most recognizable resorts is preparing to unveil a new chapter. Viceroy Los Cabos says its reimagined property will debut in late September 2026, introducing renovated signature spaces along with new restaurants and bars.
The resort describes the transformation as an evolution of the striking architecture and water-centered design for which the property is known, while adding more warmth, energy and stronger connections to contemporary Mexican culture.
A late-September reveal
Rather than treating the project as a conventional reopening, the more accurate description is a substantial reimagining of an operating luxury resort. Viceroy is already promoting September stays tied to the new chapter.
The timing is significant. Los Cabos is entering its high season while the region’s luxury-hotel market continues to become more competitive. New properties and major renovations increasingly compete not only on rooms and views, but on restaurants, nightlife, wellness and experiences that can draw local residents as well as hotel guests.
For Viceroy, the new food-and-beverage concepts may become particularly important. The resort has confirmed that new restaurants and bars are part of the transformation, giving San José del Cabo another hospitality story to watch as fall begins.
The Cabo Magazine will take a closer look once the finished spaces are fully revealed.
