A Legacy of Generosity and Community Impact
The Don Koll Sports City Project represents a milestone in the social and urban development of Cabo San Lucas. Originally established as a donation by Don Koll, a visionary benefactor of Los Cabos, the project began as a simple sports complex and has evolved into a master plan that integrates sports, community well-being, and environmental sustainability.
The site has continued to grow thanks to private contributions — including an eco-friendly lighting system donated by the Quivira Development and an Olympic swimming pool contributed by Chileno Bay Resort. These efforts reflect a shared vision: to create a public space where health, inclusion, and nature coexist.

What the Project Includes
The approved plan envisions a comprehensive Sports City, located in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, that will serve athletes, students, and local families alike. According to the IMPLAN Los Cabos 2040 Development Plan, the site will include:
- Multipurpose Sports Complex (Polideportivo)
- Tennis Courts
- Physical Conditioning Gym
- Sports Villas for up to 100 Athletes
- Baseball Field
- Velodrome
- Shooting Range
- Archery Field
- Full-size Soccer Field (Fútbol 11)
- Roller Hockey Track
- Indoor Volleyball Courts
- Beach Volleyball Courts
- Seven-a-side Soccer Field
- Diving Pit
Beyond sports, the plan emphasizes green corridors, water-efficient landscaping, and renewable energy systems, ensuring the project aligns with the municipality’s sustainability objectives under the Plan de Desarrollo Urbano 2040.
Social and Environmental Impact
The Don Koll project isn’t just about infrastructure — it’s about social transformation. The new facilities will:
-
Promote community integration through inclusive access to sports and recreation.
-
Generate youth development programs to reduce social inequality.
-
Support eco-friendly urban design, preserving green areas and natural arroyos.
-
Serve as a cultural and educational hub for health, teamwork, and social unity.
Moreover, by incorporating sustainable systems like solar lighting, rainwater collection, and native landscaping, the city will minimize its environmental footprint and act as a model for other municipalities in Baja California Sur.
A Step Toward Cabo 2040
The Cabo 2040 Plan highlights the Don Koll Sports City as one of the region’s flagship projects for creating a resilient, inclusive, and livable urban environment. Its design seeks to balance urban expansion with environmental preservation, aligning with the broader goals of sustainable tourism and social well-being.
A Community Landmark in the Making
Once completed, the Don Koll Sports City will redefine what it means to live and play in Cabo San Lucas — a place where the next generation of athletes, families, and visitors come together to thrive.
